About No Small Act

Our Origin Story

No Small Act began with exactly that — a small act. When founder Colleen Carswell posted a TikTok video based on a glimmer of an idea, she never imagined it would ignite a nationwide movement almost overnight. The concept was simple yet powerful: What if we had representation in all 3,244 counties across the United States, creating a network of engaged citizens ready to take coordinated action?

That "what if" moment transformed into something extraordinary. In a matter of days, what started with just 5 emails grew to 5,000, then quickly expanded to over 10,000 and continues to grow exponentially. This overwhelming response demonstrates the deep hunger for meaningful action and community connection in today's political landscape.

A New Approach

We're deliberately moving away from the "FAFO" (F*** Around and Find Out) mentality because it simply isn't strategic. That approach doesn't serve our goals — it isolates people we very much need.

If someone has had a change of heart over their vote — and we're seeing more and more evidence of this — we want to create a safe place for them to take action to help right the hurt created by that action. There's no judgment here for past votes or political affiliations. What matters is being here now, ready to work together.

We believe in forgiveness, inclusion, and unity across differences. By building bridges rather than walls, we create a more powerful movement that can effect real change.

Building Bridges, Not Reinventing Wheels

No Small Act functions as a bridge between individuals and existing organizations. We're not here to reinvent the wheel, but to make it roll more effectively. Our role is to identify, connect, and strengthen existing efforts in our communities, creating a unified force for change.

We recognize that countless organizations are already doing incredible work in activism, advocacy, and community organizing. Rather than competing with these efforts, we serve as community connectors, breaking down silos between isolated initiatives and helping to amplify their collective impact.

By coordinating at the county level, we can ensure that local needs are addressed while contributing to systemic change on a national scale. We help individuals find the organizations that align with their values and skills, and we help organizations connect with each other to maximize their effectiveness.

Volunteer-Led, Community-Powered

No Small Act is entirely volunteer-led. We're building this movement together, with dedicated individuals working countless hours to create the infrastructure needed to support a nationwide network.

While the rapid growth has been inspiring, it also means we're building systems that would normally take organizations months to develop. We're taking a strategic approach, carefully vetting volunteers and creating clear systems to ensure everyone's safety and the movement's sustainability.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create systemic change through coordinated local action, building a powerful network of engaged citizens working county by county. We are committed to preserving and strengthening our democracy through strategic, organized efforts that protect and uplift all people, especially those most vulnerable. By serving as community connectors, we bridge individuals and organizations, breaking down silos to amplify our collective impact and drive meaningful, lasting change. Through peaceful advocacy and inclusive community building, we stand united for a government that truly represents the people.

The Power of No Small Act

The name "No Small Act" reflects our core belief: every action matters, no matter how small it might seem. Posting a video, making a phone call, attending a meeting, connecting with a neighbor — these individual actions may appear insignificant in isolation, but when thousands of us move together with purpose and strategy, the collective impact is tremendous.

We're playing chess, not checkers. Each step we take is part of a strategic approach to creating lasting change. This movement isn't about quick wins that fade — it's about systematically building a nationwide network that can effectively coordinate action and drive meaningful change over time.

Community Guidelines

Does No Small Act advocate for or condone violence?

Absolutely not. We are firmly committed to peaceful advocacy and community building. Our approach emphasizes strategic, organized efforts through non-violent means. Violence contradicts our core values of safety, protection, and inclusion. We believe in creating change through coordinated action, civil discourse, and inclusive community organizing.

How does No Small Act approach inclusivity and acceptance?

We welcome anyone ready to take action, regardless of past political choices or affiliations. We believe in forgiveness and forward momentum. If you've had a change of heart about past decisions, we offer a judgment-free space to channel that energy into positive action.

We are deeply committed to protecting and uplifting vulnerable communities, including undocumented migrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, women, people of color, Indigenous communities, and others whose rights are at risk. This commitment is central to our mission and values.

Currently, we acknowledge that our leadership demographic skews predominantly white and female. This wasn't by design but largely a result of social media algorithms determining who initially saw our call to action. We're actively working to amplify diverse voices and perspectives within our movement and to ensure our leadership reflects the communities we serve. We value diversity of experience, background, and thought as essential to creating effective, inclusive solutions.

Our strength comes from our diversity and our ability to find common ground across differences. What unites us is our commitment to strengthening democracy and protecting vulnerable populations.

How does No Small Act protect my privacy?

Your privacy and security are top priorities. Only a small, carefully vetted team has access to personal information, and we've established strict protocols to protect this data. We prohibit screenshots of group content and expect all members to maintain confidentiality about what's shared within our spaces.

While we take every possible measure to create a secure environment, we're transparent that, as with any movement for change, there are inherent risks involved. This is why we build our systems methodically with security at the forefront.

We want all participants to understand that engaging in civic action inherently involves some level of risk. While No Small Act takes every reasonable precaution to protect participant information and safety, no organization can guarantee complete security. Participation is voluntary, and we encourage members to take personal responsibility for their own security practices when engaging with this movement.
